Pack Horse beer festival 2017
Welcome to May, the month where tents are dusted off ready for the glorious season of festivals. Festivals you say? That’s right, we’re holding one of our own!
On Saturday 6th May we will be hosting the inaugural Packhorse beer festival with a star-studded line-up to rival Glastonbury…well…not quite but read on to find out who’s coming because we are literally about to burst our kegs with excitement!
Andy Wilson of White Horse Brewery who’ll be showcasing his amazing Oxfordshire produced ales including: Wayland Smithy, Village Idiot, Crazy Horse and of course their take on a best bitter. After 20 plus years brewing Andy certainly does know how to make a great beer.
Itchen Valley will be coming along from Alresford (Hampshire) with some of my all time favourites including: Q.E.D, Pure Gold and Hampshire Rose. The brewery has one or two tricks up their sleeves for us. We might be treated to something a little special…
The mad scientists from XT will be heading down from Thame (Bucks) with their numerically named beers. As always everyone here is excited to get their hands on the pubs number one beer XT13! (Other beers will be on offer).
Recently voted one on the countries best breweries Windsor & Eton are going to bless us with their presence and hopefully some of their award winning beers too. There will be some absolute cracks on this table, including: Park Life, Knight of the Garter and the first new beer brewed in Windsor for 80years: Guardsman.
Making the longest trip to be with us (42miles) is Three Castles. With a list of beers that would make any brewery jealous. These guys and girls never fail to impress us with the quality of beer. If you’ve been a regular to our little pub you would have no doubt seen and hopefully tasted Saxon and Summer Daze. They have also informed me that they will be bring some of their newly concocted cider. Why not? It is spring after all.
Last but certainly not least is a brewery from our neighbours in Basingstoke. Longdog have some absolute belters in their range including Kismet, Red Runner, Golden Poacher... the list goes on. Lisa has always been there for us and she’s not finished with us yet. The impiety of good, honest, local beer.
Starting at 12pm, there will be a BBQ on offer grilling away all your favourites to have alongside the beer. Entrance to the festival is free, the event will be held in true Beer festival style with cash only payments for the beers outside. You’re more than welcome to come along on the day but if you want to register your interest then give Sarah, Tom, Dave or Lizzie a call on 01189 722140.
We hope to see you there,
Sarah and The Packhorse Team
