With its idyllic rural location, South Hanningfield is a popular local beauty spot, a true rural idyll just 5 miles south of the A12. Believe it or not, whilst being of a venerable old age, the pub did not begin life in its current loction, having been moved lock, stock and barrel in the 1950's when Hanningford Reservoir was constructed. They chose the site well.
